According to a report by Research and Markets in 2024, the global beauty market is on a strong growth trajectory. By 2032, global industry revenue is projected to hit $618.7 billion, with a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.9%. Key factors driving this expansion include increasing consumer demand for personal care, the emergence of advanced beauty products, the rising preference for natural cosmetics, and the expansion of e-commerce platforms.

In Vietnam, the beauty and cosmetics industry continues to be a dynamic and promising sector. According to a 2022 report by Statista, Vietnam’s cosmetics retail market revenue is expected to increase to USD 2.69 billion by 2027, with a CAGR of approximately 3.32% from 2023 to 2027. Meanwhile, Mordor Intelligence (2024) forecasts an industry growth rate of 4.94% by 2028.
Imported cosmetics still dominate the market, with products from South Korea, China, and Japan holding a significant market share. According to Kirin Capital’s 2024 report. More than 90% of cosmetics consumed in Vietnam are imported. Singapore is Vietnam’s largest cosmetics exporter, accounting for 29% of the market share, followed by South Korea, China, Thailand, and the United States, according to the General Department of Vietnam Customs. In the first 11 months of 2024, the imports of Vietnam’s cosmetics and fragrances reached over USD 1.3 billion, marking a nearly 17% increase from the same period in 2023.

The industry’s growth is influenced by various factors. Among these, the rising preference for natural cosmetics and adopting natural beauty methods are having the most significant impact. Consumers are becoming increasingly conscious of health and environmental factors. This trend presents a substantial opportunity for organic cosmetics brands to reach a potential customer base. The global organic cosmetics market is projected by Grand View Research to reach USD 54 billion by 2027. In Vietnam, several local brands, such as Cocoon, and Thorakao, are gaining traction with their vegan and natural ingredient-based products.
Additionally, the expansion of e-commerce has contributed to the beauty industry’s growth. Kirin Capital (2024) reports that approximately 20% of cosmetics in Vietnam are purchased online through platforms such as Shopee, TikTok Shop, and Lazada. Between 2024 and 2027, the e-commerce sector’s growth rate is expected to rise from 20.2% to 24%. The e-commerce boom has driven beauty product sales to a record USD 1 billion (VND 26 trillion) in the first half of 2024 alone.
